Day 2
Ride the Mount Takao cable car for an easy forest walk, or take in Nishizawa Gorge instead, then visit a Katsunuma winery and settle in for the first of two nights at Isawa Onsen.
A sacred peak of the Tama hills and a rich haven of plants and wildlife, shaded by towering cedars. On clear days the summit looks out to Mount Fuji. Yakuo-in Temple has more than 1,200 years of history, and its tengu statues speak to long-standing mountain worship. A round-trip cable car ride is included.
In autumn, gold and orange thread through the valley like brocade. Forested ridges close in while waterfalls spill into emerald pools—an easy, immersive gorge walk for cool, quiet season air.

Day 3
Ride the Sky Ride for views of three great peaks, take the Kiyosato Terrace ropeway aloft, stop at Utsukushinomori Observatory, enjoy a Yamanashi fruit afternoon tea, then return to Isawa Onsen.
Glide gently through birch forest with panoramic views of Mount Fuji, Mount Kita, and Okuhotaka—three great peaks—from about 1,420 m. The ride is fully guided and easy for seniors and children.
An open-air panoramic ropeway of about 10 minutes climbs to the high ground of Kiyosato at roughly 1,900 m. Take in Mount Fuji and the Nobeyama Plateau under the clear “Yatsugatake blue” sky.
Follow a wooden boardwalk to a viewpoint where Mount Fuji can rise above a sea of clouds and the Yatsugatake range stretches beyond, framed by waving susuki grass.

Wander the rockscapes of Shosenkyo, visit the Jewelry Museum, and in flower season enjoy a lakeside bloom stop such as Lake Motosu before overnighting at a hot spring near the Fuji Five Lakes.
Granite cliffs and fantastical rock formations create a fairytale landscape—a nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty. Cherry blossoms in spring, deep greenery in summer, maple leaves in autumn, and snow in winter line the gorge trail past Kakuenbo Peak (about 180 m) and rocks such as Tengu-iwa, Shojo-seki, and Ishimon Gate.
In Yamanashi, Japan’s “city of gems,” follow the craft from rough stone to finished piece. More than 3,000 treasures are on display, including Japan’s largest crystal—about 1.8 m tall and weighing 1,270 kg.
Mount Fuji frames fields of vivid blooms. In early spring, some 500,000 moss phlox plants form a floral carpet during the Shibazakura Festival; in early autumn, the Rainbow Flower Festival shares the frame with Fuji.
