Day 2

Naha / GANGALA Valley / traditional Okinawan sanshin
Enter the primeval forest of a southern limestone-cave valley, then experience the sanshin — the soul of Okinawan folk music.

GANGALA Valley — primeval forest walk
A valley in southern Okinawa formed by limestone caves tens of thousands of years ago. A guided tour of about one hour reveals striking rock formations, vast stalactite caverns once used by ancient people, and a mystical tree some 20 m tall — as if stepping into another world.

Cave café
In a naturally formed cave café, enjoy specialty coffee or drinks made with mineral-rich spring water, with jazz in the background — a quiet pause in nature.

Traditional sanshin experience
Adapted in the 15th century from the Chinese sanxian and played with a special plectrum, its tone is rounded and the body is covered in snakeskin. The sanshin is a household heirloom across Okinawa and the indispensable soul of folk and popular music.

ASMUI Spiritual Hikes / Cape Hedo / Busena Marine Park (glass boat)
Visit a northern spiritual site and Cape Hedo, the island's northern tip, then ride a glass-bottom boat over coral and tropical fish.

ASMUI Spiritual Hikes
A famed Okinawa spiritual site; the rocks here have changed over some 200 million years. Legend says the Ryukyu ancestors descended here. Subtropical plants and striking rock formations surround a viewpoint over the blue sea; the "reincarnation rock" and "power stone" are especially popular.

Cape Hedo — northernmost tip of Okinawa Island
North of Nago is sparsely populated, mostly forested hills. Cape Hedo marks the northern end of Okinawa Island, with steep coastal cliffs. On clear days you may see Kagoshima and Yoron Island; look out from uplifted coral cliffs over deep azure sea.

Busena Marine Park — glass-bottom boat
Cruise subtropical waters through glass viewing windows, admiring clear coral reefs and colorful tropical fish as you drift with the marine life.

A white triangular complex rising 82 m above sea level. Ride an automated garden vehicle past tropical gardens and waterfalls, browse a collection of thousands of shells, and take in endless sea views from the observatory.
